Galeria Saro is an art gallery and handcrafted gift boutique on Main Street in Stillwater. We specialize in ready-to-hang framed fine art and prints, handmade pottery, glass, wood, textiles and jewelry, handcrafted gifts and goat milk lotions and soaps, plus custom matting and framing for art you already own.
You’ll find signed art prints, including international lithographs and etchings by Pierre Alechinsky, Lars Bo, Jim Hansel, Lebadang and Staynovitz, and original vintage exhibition posters for Karel Appel, Seurat, Matisse, Picasso, Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec. Our most popular piece is “An Evening in Stillwater,” a signed and numbered print by Tim Leiss, available in several sizes for you to custom mat and frame.
Themes include nature scenes, trees, birds, flowers, landscapes, cityscapes, boats, barns, wildlife, bridges, maps and European streets, with framed prints for the budget-minded by Henry Miller, Monet, Andrew Wyeth, Van Gogh and Gauguin, and vintage historic prints by Daumier.
Meet Sarah
My name is Sarah Scanlon and I am a third-generation art gallery owner. My grandparents were art collectors who owned “The Collectors Corner” in Door County, and my grandmother Helen Powell Hooper was an artist from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. My mother, Mary Hirst, was an accomplished potter who owned the Pots Place in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and my sister is Helen Hooper-Hirst, whose pottery I carry in the gallery.
Before the gallery I spent 30 years in the oil and gas industry: as a geologist in the oil field with Core Laboratories in Wyoming, Montana and the Colorado Overthrust Belt, in research and development with Exxon, and in laboratory testing and refinery management with Flint Hills Resources in Rosemount.
I went to high school in New Delhi, India, and that experience gave me a lifelong love of travel. My late husband worked for Northwest and Delta Airlines, so we traveled and scuba dived all over the world, with Asia as our focus. Now traveling is my passion, and I collect unique art and artifacts for the gallery along the way, from Bali and Australia to France, Iceland and Bhutan, where I hiked to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
